Our Story

As an avid van owner who takes advantage of every opportunity to escape and explore via van, Brian grew tired of his industry-standard “coin flooring” located in the living and cargo areas of his van. It was hard, cold and showed every piece of dirt that made its way into his van. Having purchased a set of custom woven vinyl front floor mats a few years ago and loving the practicality and durability of the material, Brian envisioned extending the woven vinyl throughout his van with adding the capability of having it easily removable to facilitate easy cleaning. Brian knew that other van owners had to be experiencing similar setbacks in their flooring, so he decided to pursue manufacturing complete sets of mats.

Brian shared his idea with a friend that later introduced him to someone with the know-how to create just about anything. Jon is a self-described “maker” that enjoys creating unique solutions to everyday problems. Jon’s curiosity and interest in the world and all things mechanical has provided him with endless ideas, several of which he has turned into successful innovations.

Together, Brian and Jon teamed up and created Inhabit Design Works LLC in 2020 with the goal of becoming the highest quality and industry-leading removable flooring company within the automotive industry.
